What is GLP-1?

GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) is a naturally occurring hormone released in the small intestine that plays a key role in appetite control, satiety, blood sugar balance, and metabolic health. It stimulates the release of insulin, reduces the release of glucagon (a hormone that raises blood sugar), and helps slow digestion.

How Do GLP-1 Medications Help with Weight Loss?

The recent development of GLP-1 weight-loss medications are typically used for managing type 2 diabetes and obesity. They work by mimicking the body’s natural GLP-1 hormone produced by the small intestine that helps trigger insulin release to help manage blood sugar. These medications have been shown to slow digestion and increase satiety, helping you feel fuller longer and potentially reduce your overall food consumption. This process contributes to weight loss, especially when paired with diet and exercise. 1

Research on GLP-1 Medications and Supplements

Current research shows that GLP-1 medications can contribute to lower food intake and cause patients to eat fewer calories overall. With lowered food consumption, it’s important for individuals on GLP-1 medications to consume nutrient-rich foods to ensure they are meeting their micronutrient needs. Support from a balanced diet and additional vitamin and mineral supplementation can be beneficial in this effort. Supplements should be viewed as supporting a healthy diet rather than replacing nutrients. 2

How Does Nutrition Support GLP-1?

While GLP-1 medications have gained attention, many people are looking for ways to support their body’s own natural GLP-1 production through nutrition and targeted supplementation. Research shows that diet quality—especially protein, fiber, and healthy fats—can influence GLP-1 activity. 2

Protein
High-protein foods such as eggs, lean meats, fish, dairy, and whey protein are powerful natural stimulators of GLP-1 release. Protein is broken down into amino acids and peptides during digestion, which directly signal intestinal L-cells to release GLP-1. This release contributes to the feeling of increased fullness, reduced cravings, and can support post-meal blood sugar control. 3

Fiber
Soluble and fermentable fibers—found in oats, legumes, fruits, and vegetables—feed beneficial gut bacteria. As these fibers ferment, they produce short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), which act as key messengers that encourage GLP-1 secretion. Fiber also slows digestion, supporting prolonged satiety. 4

Healthy Fats
Monounsaturated fats (olive oil, avocados) and omega-3 fatty acids (fatty fish, nuts) can help slow gastric emptying, which may result in more effective GLP-1 release than with saturated fats, thereby  supporting appetite and metabolic balance.5

How Sisel Products Fit Into GLP-1 Support

Our Sisel health and fitness products are formulated with clean, natural ingredients designed to support balanced metabolism, gut health, and steady blood sugar levels, which are all factors known to help the body’s own GLP-1 secretion and incretin (the metabolic hormones that decrease blood glucose levels) responses after meals.

SiseLEAN™ Weight Management Shake
Sisel SiselLEAN chocolate weight management shake package, black and brown resealable bag labeled ‘GLP-1 Support Product,’ soy-free, with nutrition icons on the front.SiseLEAN delivers 12 grams of premium protein (whey, milk, and pea) plus 4 grams of fiber in a low-calorie serving. Protein is a positive GLP-1 stimulator, while fiber enhances fermentation in the intestine. Together, this combination of ingredients supports satiety, craving control, and stable energy—hallmarks of healthy GLP-1 activity.

SiselGUT Essentials™ Daily Pre & Probiotic
Sisel SiselGUT Essentials daily prebiotic and probiotic supplement in a white and green resealable pouch, coconut lime flavor, labeled ‘GLP-1 Support Product,’ with fiber content icons on the front. This advanced product provides a strong foundation for indirect GLP-1 support. With 10 probiotic strains (35 billion CFUs at manufacturing), four unique prebiotics, and apple fiber, SiselGUT Essentials Daily Pre & Probiotic is designed to help nourish a healthy gut microbiome. A balanced microbiome produces SCFAs during fiber fermentation—an important trigger for GLP-1 release. Improved gut health can also support digestion, fullness, and metabolic signaling.

SiselGUT Essentials™ Digestive Enzyme Support
Sisel SiselGUT Essentials digestive enzyme support supplement in a white and pink resealable pouch, strawberry lemonade flavor, labeled ‘GLP-1 Support Product,’ with icons highlighting digestive and gut health support.Efficient digestion plays a critical role in GLP-1 activation, as GLP-1 release is stimulated by the breakdown of food into amino acids, fatty acids, and other signaling molecules. SiselGUT Essentials Digestive Enzyme Support aids the proper digestion of proteins, carbohydrates, and fats, helping ensure nutrients are fully broken down and absorbed. Improved protein digestion can enhance the availability of GLP-1–stimulating amino acids, while better fat digestion supports healthy gastric emptying and satiety signals. For individuals eating smaller meals, optimal digestion becomes even more important to maximize nutritional impact and metabolic signaling.

GLUCOminish™ Blood Sugar Support
Sisel GLUCOminish blood sugar support supplement in a black and brown resealable pouch, cinnamon flavor, labeled ‘GLP-1 Support Product,’ with front text indicating blood sugar and glucose support.Formulated primarily for blood sugar balance and fat metabolism support, GLUCOminish complements GLP-1 nutrition by encouraging stable glucose levels and reduced cravings. These downstream benefits are commonly associated with higher GLP-1 signaling, making this product a supportive addition when used alongside protein- and fiber-rich options.

TRIMogenic™ Full Spectrum Weight Loss
